County Library Hosts Hummingbird Lecture
Release Date: June 18, 2012
Cape May Court House – The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Humming Birds 101” presented by Pat Sutton at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 30th. The program will take place at the Main Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
It is the peak of Ruby-Throated Hummingbird migration through Cape May County. Hummingbirds have been here since mid-April, raised one or several families and are now heading south to their winter home. Learn all about these unique and tiny birds, including how to attract them to your yard next spring. From 7-8 p.m., the group will visit Sutton’s nearby wildlife garden as countless hummingbirds feast on the plentiful insects and blooming flowers for the journey south.
Sutton has studied the natural world for thirty years. She and her husband, Clay Sutton, wrote the landmark book, Birds and Birding at Cape May, an in-depth result of their efforts over many years documenting and protecting the migration and the Cape May area. Sutton’s wildlife garden is a teaching garden included on many tours.
